Burbank Pet Sitting is pleased to welcome Saralyn Tartaglia as our Consulting Dog Trainer, expanding the resources available to our clients beyond traditional pet care. With more than 20 years of hands-on experience in animal rescue, behavior, and training, Saralyn brings a thoughtful, individualized approach to helping dogs and their people better understand one another.
A Lifelong Commitment to Animals
Saralyn’s love for animals began in childhood, when she rescued animals alongside her grandmother. More than 20 years ago, she began volunteering extensively with animal shelters and rescue organizations, gaining significant hands-on experience in animal handling, behavior, and understanding the individual temperaments and needs of both dogs and cats.
Service Dog and Assistance Animal Experience
In 2015, Saralyn founded a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to training rescue animals as assistance animals and service dogs for veterans.
Through this work, she developed specialized experience in service-dog training, including individualized task training designed around each handler’s specific needs. She also provided education and resources regarding assistance-animal access rights to individuals, businesses, and organizations.
Specializing in Fearful, Shy, and Anxious Dogs
One of Saralyn’s primary areas of specialization is working with fearful, shy, and anxious dogs.
Her approach focuses on helping dogs build confidence, develop effective coping skills, and manage anxiety through patient, individualized training. Trust, clear communication, and an understanding of each dog’s unique needs are central to her work.
Her behavioral training can also help dogs develop greater emotional resilience and feel more comfortable and balanced in their everyday environments.
Training Designed for Real Life
Saralyn believes effective dog training should be practical, sustainable, and compatible with everyday life.
Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all program, she develops individualized training plans based on the needs of the dog, the household, and the routines already in place. This makes it easier for families to incorporate training consistently and work toward lasting results.
Ultimately, Saralyn’s goal is to help people and their dogs develop a deeper understanding of one another and build relationships grounded in clear communication, trust, and love.
